Dear
Residents and Families,
In response
to B.C.’s relaxation of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, Cavell Gardens will be
adjusting some of the Covid-19 health and safety protocols for our residents
and staff. In developing and implementing some of these protocols we have tried
to balance our resident’s independence against the overall health and safety
within our community.
As B.C.
continues to ease restrictions, we must keep in mind that the Covid-19 virus is
still active, and that people will continue to contract and spread the virus.
Therefore, we need to remain vigilant and continue to follow the health and
safety protocols that are in place. Cavell’s overriding consideration will
always be for our residents, our staff and their respective families.
The various
Disclosure Forms that we plan to implement are designed to:
a)
prevent
the risk of Covid-19 from entering our community
b)
allow
us to respond quickly should the unfortunate happen, where a resident or
employee test positive for Covid-19, and
c)
provide
us with the means of tracing the source of a positive test result and inform
people who have tested positive.
Should we
have a resident or staff member test positive, the Health Authorities/Public
Health would expect us to provide this information to them.
Effective
August 1, 2020 Cavell Gardens will move to the revised protocol:
a)
all
essential staff, home support and families, will be required to complete our
Tracing & Screening Disclosure Form upon entering our community on a daily
basis.
b)
residents
will be required to complete (inform Reception) our Special Disclosure Form
when, choosing to socialize outside or our community, such as; going to the
grocery store, meeting with family for lunch or travelling with family for
vacation.
Various
activities and services have been categorized as low, medium or higher risk.
a)
Low
risk activities and services are those where there is high degree of certainty
that health and safety plans have been implemented, enforced and consequences
for non-compliance. Examples include, doctors’ visits, hospital outpatient
appointments dental and other health professionals.
b)
Medium
risk activities and services are those where health and safety plans are in
place but may not be consistently followed or administered. Examples include,
grocery and retail stores, hair salons and restaurants.
c)
High
risk activities and services are recently permitted activities where we do not
know if the number of Covid-19 cases will rise as a result of the activity.
Examples include, Vacations, travel and social/family gatherings fall into this
category.
We believe
the above process and protocol provides a balance between our need for
tracing/tracking and mitigating risk while allowing residents and employees
greater freedom and responsibility for their actions.
