A big thank you goes out to all of the students from Charles Dickens Annex (Kindergarten to Grade 3) for making such amazing cards. A special thank you to teacher Anne Miller who is the daughter of our resident Rita Jull. If any resident would like to write back, Julia is happy to pass on your letters.

November Newsletter

Dear Residents, Friends, and Family,

As we launch into the month of November and can see the bright lights of Christmas quickly approaching, let’s take a moment and give thanks. Remembrance Day, which is celebrated November 11th, allows us to pay tribute and remember those men and women who fought for our freedom. It is because of their sacrifice we have the safety and comfort to enjoy and celebrate the seasonal events with our loved ones and friends. Our community will be having a time of sharing, where residents are welcome to share stories of the past and what they are grateful for. A toast will be made along with the music from The Last Post at 11am in our dining area. Please sign up at Reception.

Starting November 1, we will be bringing back our Pre Order Forms for those residents who wish to order from our Always Available Menu (AAM). Due to its popular demand, the kitchen is over producing food, creating unnecessary waste. Pre-Ordering will help our kitchen staff to better manage the food production. Our AAM Forms are located outside the kitchen office and we ask that you submit your requests to the kitchen by 10am. Our menu will now feature a sandwich of the month, which you will find posted on our display board upon entering the dining area.

Cavell Gardens has created a Welcome Committee. I would like to thank (Jocelyn Pritchard, Clarabeth McIntosh, Irma Penner, Eileen Mckinnon & Annette Amor) who have volunteered, to be a companion (buddy) to new residents. The Welcome Committee, will meet with our new incoming residents to help them get settled, manage their new surroundings and explain our services and procedures for participating in programs.

Safety Reminder: As Christmas nears, we find more strangers trying to access residence mailboxes. Please do your part and ensure the main entrance doors closes behind you. Do Not open the door for anyone! All staff, essential personnel and contractors must register via the main entrance for safety purposes.

Lastly, We are happy to announce that we are going to be doing our Purdy’s Chocolate sale again this year! In order to get 25% off, we need to purchase $1000 worth of products. Collaboratively, I feel confident that we can do this with staff and residents. Please pick up your order forms at front desk/reception or from our Recreation Coordinator Julia. You can Pay with Cash or Cheque. Julia will be accepting all payments and ordering. She is more than happy to help you.

Warm regards,

Brian Svoboda
