June Update at Cavell Gardens

After two long months of having limited access to your community, I am pleased to announce our “phase 2” restart plan. Effective Monday June 8th, our dining area, hair salon and some recreation programs will resume. Our restart plan follows the Work Safe BC guidelines and will commence slowly to ensure we can assess and make changes when necessary to keep everyone safe. This date will also see the implementation of our new and improved housekeeping routines.

Dining Service will continue as in the past, with two meal services for both lunch and dinner. New meal times for 2nd service have been adapted; (1:15pm & 6:15pm) to allow for additional cleaning and sanitization. Seating arrangement have been created in consideration of when and who you dined with last. Please understand not everyone will have their same table or meal times. During our phase 2, a maximum of two residents will be allowed at each table. Breakfast, and both tea times will continue to be delivered to your suites until further notice. I will be informing those of you interested in returning to the dining room of your meal times next week.

I’m excited to share that our new shuttle bus is here and we’ll be offering sightseeing tours. Residents interested in participating in our activity programs and hair salon will now be required to reserve ahead of time. Like before, a sign-up sheet will be kept at Reception where residents can confirm their attendance. All activities will have limited availability due to social distancing requirements.

Our housekeeping services have undergone a major review and changes have been made to ensure effective cleaning and sanitization are followed for everyone’s safety. Enhanced cleaning routines have been adopted with a balanced schedule ensuring services are available throughout the day seven days a week. Some of you received a letter informing you of a change in your weekly housekeeping date. I appreciate your understanding with this request.

Posters and floor graphics have been placed in our elevators and common areas to help promote social distancing. You will notice some rooms have occupancy limits; we ask that you respect these guidelines. Your safety and health are our highest priority.

As we move forward with our restart plan, I would ask that you all stay vigilant in keeping safe. Please ensure to wash your hands regularly especially when returning from outside and report to management if you’re feeling unwell. We continue to screen our staff, limit visits to essential persons only and encourage you to take advantage of our in-house grocery list limiting your unnecessary visits to the mall or crowded stores.

I understand how challenging it has been over the last few months and appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Warm regards,

Brian Svoboda
