COVID-19 Safety Measures

As per the ongoing directives of BC's Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and BC Minister of Health Adrian Dix, we have decided at Cavell Gardens to implement extra safety precautions.

Effective immediately, Cavell Gardens is permitting entry to “Essential Staff Only”. NO VISITORS are allowed until the end of March. If you would like to bring anything to your loved-ones, all parcels must be dropped off at Reception.

We are also changing our meal service to 3 settings to help us practice social distancing. There will be no more than 2 residents per table during meal times.

Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to continue to have a healthy and clean home for our residents as well as a positive environment.

COVID-19 update and protocols

Here at Cavell we want to ensure the safety of the residents and your loved ones. We are taking extra precautions to help keep our community safe. We have cancelled all visiting entertainers and volunteers for the time being. Social distancing amongst the residents and staff members is also being encouraged.

In accordance with the guidelines from the public health authorities, anyone who has been out of the country or at the airport is not allowed to enter the building until 14 days has passed upon returning to Canada.

Although you may wish to visit your loved one, we ask that you only do so to drop off any essential items and to limit your time.

1)     All Staff and Visitors must enter via the North Main Entrance. Reception, DO NOT allow access to anyone unless you are there to greet them. (Additional Screening Processes to be Implemented)

2)     Everyone must wash their hands upon entering our community, and regularly during their shift.

3)     Residents must inform a staff member if they are experiencing a fever, new cough or respiratory pain.  (We will provide them with a mask and ask them to self-isolate in their suite.)

4)     Housekeeping has been increased to 7 days a week 8am-8pm. Housekeepers will be cleaning our common areas every hour on the hour.

We are in contact with BC’s public health agencies to help ensure we have the most current information.

Activities at Cavell Gardens

Welcome to Cavell Gardens!

There is never a dull moment living in the beautiful Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. There are plenty of shops nearby as well as numerous in-house activities and outings offered. It’s fun being a tourist in your own town. Have a look at some of our Flashbacks from this year.

January 2020 Flashback

Bloedel Conservatory – Festivale Tropicale

Aren’t we lucky to have such a beautiful place to go see tropical plants and birds? It was a perfect place to hide from the cold weather outside.

LUNCH – Legends Pub in Richmond

Sometimes you just need a burger and fries and to spend time in a friendly neighbourhood pub with the gals.

Robbie Burns Night

What a great night to celebrate some Scottish traditions and listen to the poetry of Robbie Burns. A great big thanks to our wonderful performers; Yvon Raoul, Leanne Page, Connor Page, Liam Page. And a special thanks to our resident Gary Paget for helping organize such a great event.
