December Newsletter

 Dear Residents,

As we get ready to close the book on 2020, many chapters of this past year have been a whirlwind of unexpected events.  None of us could have predicted or assumed that a coronavirus called COVID-19 would cause such harm to our world, communities and loved ones. This past year has been challenging for all of us. Our normal lives have been turned upside down and we all have had to adjust to a “new normal” until the story is finished.

I am thankful to report that our home remains safe and virus free. This would not be possible if it weren’t for our dedicated staff. All our staff have consciously made an effort to manage their movement outside of their workplace, helping to mitigate the risk of bringing the virus into our home. I am grateful for their commitment to Cavell Gardens in wanting to support our seniors and operations during this difficult time.

Residents and families alike have and continue to play their roles in helping us keep our home safe. This past year has been difficult having to make drastic changes to our programs and how our services are delivered. I appreciate their patience and understanding.

We all can remain hopeful that our “normal” lives return sooner than later. In the meantime, lets all continue to be vigilant in following the direction from our PHO, Dr, Bonnie Henry and our internal safety plans.

December is full of lots exciting events; Our Resident Talent Show, Channukah, Christmas Light Tours, VanDusen Gardens, Pajama Party, Christmas and New Years just to mention a few. Be sure to sign up for your favourite event to secure your spot!

Lastly, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May your New Year be filled with peace, joy and love. I continue to pray for us all and your loved ones.

Merry Christmas,

Brian
